Our Month In 9 Squares – October 2020

Dear October 2020,

Thank you for the cooler temps! We especially appreciated some of the 60 degree days and finally being able to wear long sleeves and coats! It’s about time!

With these Covid times we weren’t able to go far for fall break this year, so we went up north and soaked up laid back mountain living… Which is our absolute favorite! We love nothing more than a cozy getaway to a small town, filled with outdoor adventures, intentional family time and local restaurants. It was an absolute treat to getaway!

Soccer is in full swing and continues to be a weekly highlight for us! The girls are on great teams and we look forward to practices and games with our teams-turned good friends! Both girls have really excelled this season and it has been pure joy cheering them on and watching them thrive!

Trav and I make it a point to sneak in a couple creative date nights a month and this month we tried out a stand up comedy show. I absolutely recommend trying something new and stepping out of the typical, date-night-box… It was memorable and we laughed the night away!

Guess what… It’s time to say goodbye to candy corn and pumpkins, and hello to turkeys and the best meal of the year! November, we are already looking forward to our calendar full of fun moments ahead!

Our Month In 9 Squares – August 2020

Dear August 2020,

You were our first month of virtual learning and you have definitely been a month of ups and downs. But, we are troopers and we are hanging in there with all the continued changes. We decided to look on the bright side and enjoy the good moments and blessings that at home schooling has to offer. And guess what, we are still smiling!

To offset all the continued schooling at home we filled our weekends with as much adventure as possible in the heat of AZ. Lots of swimming is definitely the perfect recipe for weekend fun. We also sneak away to the mountains as much as possible, thank goodness cooler weather is only a few hours away.

September, we welcome you with the dream of cooler-ish temps and the return of sports! We shall see what another month of virtual learning has in store… Here we go!

Our Month In 9 Squares – July 2020

Dear July 2020,

You are always a hot one… and as usual you were extra toasty with the award for the hottest month in AZ history! We spent most of the month in a pool or indoors to stay cool, with the exception of our dreamy Colorado vacation! We were so blessed to have booked this trip a year ago, that still allowed us the opportunity to get out and explore in the middle of this pandemic. We soaked up cooler weather, incredible hikes with majestic water features, took in breathtaking mountain views and fished like it was going out of style. When the day came to pack up and drive home, we all wished that we didn’t have to leave! It truly was the highlight of the summer. We also had the pleasure of celebrating our oldest daughter’s 8th birthday, which doesn’t even seem possible. Where has the time gone?!

But July 2020, you have come to an end and here we are getting ready to start virtual kindergarten and third grade from home next week. So August, please provide us with patience and understanding as we start this new chapter. We’re all in this together!

Our Month In 9 Squares – June 2020

Dear June 2020,

We are still in Covid times. Due to the AZ spike in positive corona virus numbers, we are still in quarantine. Our days have consisted of swimming, swimming and more swimming. We are definitely doing what we can to enjoy this strange and unexpected summer. But I must say, the best memories of the month were our two mountain getaways. Sneaking away for a family weekend in Prescott and running off to Flagstaff, (kid-free!) have really given us life this month. Just what our adventurous hearts needed. Cooler weather, the great outdoors and a social media break can really do good for the soul!

We also celebrated two special days this month. We spent our 12th wedding anniversary on the lake kayaking the day away! And we loved on our favorite daddy on Father’s Day! Even though we are in unchartered territory in this season of life, we are so grateful for the gift of family time.

July, you provide our last month of summer… give us eyes to see past the uneasiness of the world around us and let us center in on what’s important!

Our Month In 9 Squares – May 2020

Dear May 2020,

You were a month of endings! We celebrated the last day of homeschool for both Preschool and Second Grade! Although we are so happy to see the school year come to an end, we are sad that it ended in such an unexpected way this year. In honor of Preschool Graduation we celebrated at a park, social distancing of course, to still honor our little graduates in their caps and gowns. It was too cute!

We also celebrated Mother’s Day with a special day at home. I was serenaded with darling planned surprises and homemade goodies. It really was a memorable Mother’s Day!

With the major swing of heat rolling into the valley we snuck away to both Prescott and Payson for cooler adventures, which really made the month! We were able to enjoy the outdoors and take a break from our new normal at home. Kingston also got to join in the road-trip’n fun and loved the change of scenery. Who would have thought he only joined our family 1 month ago!

Well June, please surprise us with cooler weather… Hey, a girl can dream!

Our Month In 9 Squares – February 2020

Dear February 2020,

You have surprisingly become one of my favorite months of the year. You are a month filled with beautiful AZ weather that tends to be chilly, breezy and rainy… my kind of heaven. You are also a month filled with our favorite sports and activities, which are extra enjoyable due to the stunning weather. [Super Bowl festivities, The Phoenix Open, Soccer Saturday’s, golf and hiking… we kept busy! ] We spent a lot of time as a family outdoors this month and that gives us all a little extra skip in our steps.

I also adore February because as a girl-mom it is so much fun watching all of my lovely ladies date their daddy for Valentine’s. Getting each girl ready for their surprise date with their favorite Valentine melted my heart each time, they made special memories that they will never forget… and priceless moments for me as their mom.

Oh February, you were loved! As we march right into March, I am pumped for a new collection of firsts and I promise to slow down and continue to be intentional with my loved ones. Let’s do this, March!

Our Month In 9 Squares – December 2019

Dear December 2019,

December was just as great as we’d hoped it would be. With all the holiday festivities and Christmas functions, it is a month we will always cherish. We love filling the month with Santa, Christmas decorations, holiday lights and Christmas parties! But, I must say… The best part was our mountain getaway. We were able to sneak away and visit Santa at the North Pole, hung out with friends in the snow, and the girls got to ski for the first time! We are a winter-loving family, so December you are always our favorite!
This December was extra special because our girls are old enough to understand that Jesus’ birth is the true meaning of Christmas, and there is nothing more special than that!

As January brings a new year and a new decade, we are beyond excited to see where 2020 takes our family. We have so much to be thankful for and looking forward to a bright future as the Wodiske Party of 5!

Our Month In 9 Squares – September 2019

Dear September 2019,

You were an unexpectedly delightful month filled with travel, sports and celebrated double-digit weather.

I loved jetting off on a magical NYC girls trip filled with glitz and glam and fabulous shows! Every-time I visit New York I fall in love with a new spot… You can’t go wrong in that city. It sure is something special!

Travis and I also snuck away for a quick 48 hour adventure to California, thanks to a fabulous family wedding. It was so nice to explore Newport Beach together and fulfill my need for a visit to the ocean.

And of course a big round of applause and thank you to AZ for dropping down out of the 100 degree weather, just in time for soccer season to begin! We are so grateful!

Time for some fall weather to match the fall season. We are looking forward to you, October, and we already have our costumes picked out! Let the fun begin!

Our Month In 9 Squares – July 2019

Dear July 2019,

Besides the heat of the summer, we had a great month! With our last family trip to the mountains for the 4th, we shared the best red, white and blue family time together!

Back to school is no joke! Between meet the teachers (x2) , first days of school (x2), curriculum nights and back to school parties… We are back in the swing of it all. Paisley’s first day of second grade, Payton’s first day of pre-k and Kensie’s first day at home with me… Alone! Wow, all I can say is, time is flying! Haha! And just when I thought nothing else could change, my biggest girl turned 7! What a month July brought.

August, you are already proving to be busy… Here we go!

Our Month In 9 Squares – June 2019

Dear June 2019,

June has been a perfect 1st full month of summer. The girls enjoyed a week of vacation bible school and a week of dance camp and adored both! I am so grateful for fun activities to keep them energized and happy and I love the opportunity to watch them grow in new endeavors.

We were able to sneak away to the mountains for Father’s Day weekend and soak up family time, outdoor adventures and cooler weather… And of course celebrate our favorite daddy!

With the girl’s sports and extra activities on hold for the summer months we have been able to catch up with friends on more double-dates and share in more creative date nights just the two of us. It has been so much fun! This month we snuck in pedicures and Top Golf, and we have enjoyed trying new local restaurants!

Meanwhile, Kensie took her first steps this month and hasn’t stopped walking since. She is a go-getter and wants to get her hands on everything. She is also starting to copy our words and tones and her favorite activity is giving kisses, which we all line up for!

With the month of July ahead, we are excited to celebrate the 4th, check out some fireworks and soak up the last bit of summer break before school starts. The back-to-school countdown is on.
