Recent Reads – December 2019

I did it!…  I have officially joined the digital world of Amazon Kindle reading and I am a huge fan! Don’t get me wrong… I know there will be times that I miss actually flipping the pages and smelling the paper, but so far I am loving it. Go Team Kindle!  And ever since I bought a Kindle, I have been able to fly through Books! It goes everywhere with me and it is filled with all of my favorite titles. Thanks to the convenience of electronic reading, I have some great books to share… I enjoyed these titles and I think you will as well.

So here you go, a good round up of books that you can’t go wrong with!  In full disclosure, please know that I adore a Hallmark style love-story with a happy ending, but I am happy to say I branched out a little bit this time around. These books have some unexpected plot twists, surprise endings, in-depth storylines and historical connections… Which I found very intriguing as well.  I also read 2 great books that have a Christmas theme – just in time for the holidays!

2019 Christmas Traditions: Christmas Cards | Family Photos | Matching PJ’s | Santa Photos

These are a few of my favorite Christmas Traditions… Family Photos + Christmas Cards + The Santa Visit + Matching Holiday PJ’s!

SANTA is always a fun visit for us.  It is our chance to see who will smile and who will cry.  Is it bad that I always (secretly) wish for tears?? Sadly, my dream didn’t come true.  Kensie held it together and we are officially the ‘smiley-Santa-photos’ family.  Oh well, at least I am thankful for the joy.  Don’t get me wrong, Kensie is extremely skeptical of Old St. Nick, but I am sure next year she will be his biggest fan!  Payton and Paisley, on the other hand, never wanted to leave his side.  It is so sweet to watch their belief shine!  Enjoy our Santa visit!Christmas Traditions 2019 is a recap of a few of our favorite holiday activities. Our Month In 9 Squares – October 2019

Dear October 2019,

You were a month of soccer, more soccer and a slice of pumpkin everything. You are always one of our favorite months filled with decorating the house for Halloween to picking out cute costumes… We always adore October with the kiddos!

This month was filled with changing weather (It almost feels like fall here!) to school parties and costume events. It was a month filled with fun and, of course, … lots of candy! Did I mention soccer??? With two girls playing we are on the field a lot, but we wouldn’t want it any other way.

As we prepare for November and the grateful-thankful month ahead, we look back with a smile and we look forward with excitement!

Recent Reads – July 2019

I have been on a reading kick and I LOVE IT!

I often get asked, “How do you find time to read in this stage of life with three littles at home?”  The truth is… I usually give up my precious sleep.  I know this might sound crazy to some of you, but for me it is almost therapeutic.  I love nothing more than wrapping my kiddos in their beds and kissing them goodnight and then jumping into my bed to dive into a good read! There is something soothingly sweet about it!  After a long day of giving everything I have to my 3 girls, it is almost like I am finally giving myself what I need and investing in myself.  The concept sounds crazy to my husband (and for all that can relate, maybe yours too!?)… “You’re sacrificing your sleep for a book?”  Yes.  Yes I am. And I love it.  No matter how many times I try, it just doesn’t add up to him.  Staying up late and trading in zzz’s for page flips is all about getting some quiet & much needed ME time.  In this season of life, I have to take it where I can get it, and right now, its 9pm until some time later than I’m willing to admit.  = )

That being said, here are a few great books that I have read over the last few months!

Our Month In 9 Squares – February 2019

Dear February 2019,

You were one for the books! We made some of our most cherished memories this month and it was everything we had hoped for and more! We took our first Disneyland family vacation and it was truly a magical trip! Our girls will never forget all of the fun! It was also the best weather ever in AZ, so all I can say is thank you God for the rain and chilly weather. And we can’t forget Valentine’s Day, the holiday I never knew I loved until having daughters! We have way too much fun celebrating all things love in this family! February, although you are a short month, you rocked!

March, we have more fun planned and we are looking forward to it all!

2018 Christmas Cards Season is here! This year I partnered with Shutterfly to create the most creative and festive cards around! Here is a sneak peek!

2018 Christmas Cards | With Shutterfly

Shutterfly outdid themselves this year with their amazing 2018 Christmas cards selection.

As you know, we are big Shutterfly fans in this house, and once again I was pleasantly surprised with their adorable cards.  Now that we are a family of five, I found that I gravitated towards the card options with more than 4 photo slots, so that I could highlight each of the girls.

This year I found that they really up-ed their game on the total card package.  Not only are their card options fabulous, but their envelope liners and pre-addressed envelopes are so creative and colorful!  I am all about the feeling you get when you pick-up a card out of your mailbox; the happy mail experience starts with the envelope! 2018 Christmas Cards Season is here! Over the last few months I’ve been blessed with more time to read due to cuddling a newborn!  I decided to soak up some of our snuggles with tunes on in the background (John Mayer + James Morrison on Pandora) and cozying up with a good book. And in doing so, I have been blessed greatly by quiet time and books that have taken me along for journeys, life stories, laughter, tears and adventures.

Baby Love | Creating Birth Announcements with Shutterfly

Our third little girl has joined the family our life has been nonstop ever since! Newborns love attention and want to be held and loved on ALL.THE.TIME. While this time is precious for me, it can be hard to do with two other kiddos running around the house.  So my “to-do” list has become more of a “if I can get to it” list.  One item on my list that kept getting pushed off was making Kensie’s birth announcements.  We had beautiful pictures taken by the fabulous La Brisa PhotographyThe edited images were back in a jiffy and just waiting for me to make the announcement. In my mind, I thought it would be such a daunting, time consuming task. Which is ridiculous because with Shutterfly, it is such a quick, easy and painless creation! I should have made them sooner.

This post was in collaboration with Shutterfly. (#partner) I received some of these items in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are 100% my own. #MyShutterfly

Shutterfly is so easy to use and their quality and results are fabulous. I am a big fan!  I was able to upload my beautiful newborn photos and create a photo card masterpiece in minutes. I was beyond thrilled with their card styles and options, that I actually found it hard to pick a favorite. I decided this time around to do something different and I created two cards to alleviate the pressure of choosing just one.  I love that Shutterfly offers the opportunity to make each card your own, with the choice of card layouts, colors and fonts… It really is your own presonalized creation.

I made one card in a tri-fold/multi-sided style to give to my family members that want cuteness overload, and a more traditional 2-sided 6×8 photo card for our friends.  Both birth announcements turned out fabulous and we couldn’t be more pleased!

Newborn Necessities | Must-Have Favorites From One Mom To Another

Newborn Necessities from one mom to another. Sharing items that I love and that have helped me get through the exhausting new baby stage, with ease.

Girlie number 3 is six weeks new and I am living on caffeine and snuggles! Since we are in the newborn survival stage I thought it would be fun to share a few items that have kept ‘us’ going – items that both Kensie and I love. They are mostly nursing and sleep related because let’s face it, up until now that is all newbies do in the beginning. And if you recall from my previous posts, since we didn’t know her gender prior to birth, practically every item listed below has been 2-day shipped to my home via Amazon Prime. Lifesaver!

To give you a little back story, I have really struggled with nursing all three of my girls, and to say the first few weeks of nursing has been rough would be an understatement. Between the pain, engorgement, plugged ducts/mastitis, latching and what seems to be a never ending cycle of feeds… it is and has been an exhausting journey, again! But, I am hanging in there and the nursing/feeding items below are probably why. Don’t be afraid to admit it is hard, because it is… use whatever aids you need to get through!  Not all nursing journeys are easy, so do your best to not doubt your body or be too hard on yourself.  And yes, I need to be better at taking my own advice. Which is why I am sharing my ‘breast friends’ below!
