I love hosting gatherings at our home and the best way to start off a fun night of socializing with friends is with a fabulous drink! On the menu today is my Fruity Sangria Bar. When I am hosting, I like to serve drinks that are not only delicious and good looking, but drinks that are easy to make. Let’s face it, when you are serving a whole meal it helps to have a yummy cocktail recipe that is not time consuming to make, and this setup is just that… because ain’t no body got time for that!
I start with a good bottle of Sangria, yes you heard me right… a pre-made, store-bought, bottle of Sangria. Don’t get me wrong, there are a lot of incredible Sangria recipe’s out there, but I never keep all of those needed ingredients conveniently in my home, so I serve Sangria that comes ready to-go in the bottle. (I found this amazing bottle at Costco.)
The beauty of Sangria is that the ingredients that matter most are actually in the fruit. That’s right… just add fruit.
Sangria Bar’s are beautiful, colorful and super fruity. I like to serve the main go-to fruits; strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and then I like to add a few other colors and tanginess to the mix by adding lemons, limes, and oranges. I also like to see what fruits are in season and I will add something that is a little outside of the norm, such as a peach or a plum.
I personally feel like a good Sangria Bar is one with great accessories. To finish off the Sangria Bar I create a cute display with individual bowls to mix and pick from. I also love pre-fruiting the glasses so all my guests have to do is pour in their Sangria. Don’t be afraid to have fun with your fruit!
My secret weapon is that I will frost my fruit in the freezer for an hour before serving; this helps keep the cocktail really chilly during consumption. And of course I would say that a colorful cocktail like this must be passed out in a cute glass. I found these adorable plastic stemless glasses in the summer section at Target. They are perfect for enjoying your drink on the patio. (This set is sold-out, but click HERE to see another cute option.) My usual go-to glass is a mason jar with a handle, but have fun when picking out your drink-ware and don’t be afraid to think outside the glass!
Start your party off right… no one can turn down a fruity cocktail in a cute glass! So have fun with it and get fruity!
