Don’t get me wrong, I love a good girls night out… but even better is a girls getaway! A few days to regroup, relax, let loose and just have fun. No kid-talk, no kids, no diaper bags, no bottles and (sorry babe) no hubbies. Just a good girlfriend to make memories with and explore, explore, explore!
My best friend is quite the world traveler so when the opportunity presented itself to jump on a plane and take a 5 day trip to NYC with her, I was gone in a New York minute. We stayed in Time Square and hit just about every hot spot from The Empire State Building, Central Park, Columbus Circle, Bryant Park, Rockefeller Center and of course we ate and drank our way through every fancy restaurant and bar in the city. We averaged 10 miles of walking every day and when we needed a break we hailed a cab and enjoyed the sites from an ol’ faithful NY cabby. It truly was a best friend getaway I will never forget and I am so grateful that she knew just what this mama needed. By the way, New York at Christmas time has got to be one of the most magical times to be in NYC. The ice skating, the chilly peacoat weather, The Rockette’s show and Rockefeller center just come to life at Christmas time.
Disclaimer: As you know I am a photo obsessed person in my daily life, so you can only imagine how I am when I am traveling. New York is an extremely photogenic city so of course I came home with way too many amazing photos to share. I hope you enjoy a few of my favorite snapshots of our adventure as two best friends take on the excitement of the concrete jungle!
*Que Jay Z and Alicia Keys…*
… New York, concrete jungle where dreams are made of
There’s nothin’ you can’t do.
Now you’re in New York
These streets will make you feel brand new
The lights will inspire you.
Let’s hear it for New York, New York, New York…
Christmas in New York
Leaving on a jet plane – heading straight for the Big Apple!
The Empire State Building … Unfortunately since it is so tall, we couldn’t fit it in our selfie.
Spreading some LOVE in the city.
Rockefeller Center and Ice Skating – Of course!
Central Park and all it’s perks!
Watching the Today Show from Bouchon Bakery … Such a treat!
HIGHLIGHT OF THE TRIP… Meeting Chris Hemsworth in the coat closet of a swanky restaurant! He was very sweet and definitely good looking up close. …And incase you are wondering, his wife is very kind to starstruck fans. 🙂
Radio City Music Hall – Christmas Spectacular/The Rockettes Show
Bar Américain – Delicious! Great job Bobby Flay
Shopping in SoHo – Love the architecture in this area!
Time Square by buggy … beautiful way to see the lights!
Yes, we had to stand outside of the Today Show one more time – Tourists!
Shopping at Bryant Park and Herald Square followed by rooftop drinks at Columbus Circle
Perfect ending to the trip – Dinner at Barbetta, a Broadway show and a midnight pizza stop in Time Square!
Flying home, with plenty of time to enjoy a latte, a good book and a little peace and quiet before I am greeted at the airport by my family!
When a mom gets a break from her everyday hustle and bustle she comes back refreshed, renewed and excited for her mommy responsibilities! Every mom needs a break from reality!
