I don’t know about you but sometimes I feel selfish when I want to do something on my own, or for myself. But, Mommy’s need “ME” time. I am so set in my mommy-hood lifestlye that sometimes I forget that I matter too.
I always feel like if I go on a little getaway or even an afternoon out… without the family, my home life will crumble or a disaster will strike. Mommy’s, why do we do this to ourselves?! We do so much for our families and loved ones, that we too need time to rest, regroup and recharge. Don’t let the fear of ‘I don’t deserve a break’ or ‘I picked this thing called parenthood’, stop you from being you! God wants us to flourish right where He has us!
Right now, I am writing this blog post on an airplane. You heard right, I have left the family behind and I planned a short getaway, to focus on ME! Of course it was really hard to get out of the house. I had to make sure my hubby and the girls were well taken care of, but all of my planning and packing seems worth it right now, as I sip a glass of wine, blog without distraction and float peacefully 40,000 feet in the air!
Here is a little peak into my world; my favorite part of traveling is the aiport and airplane time. I love sipping a latte, flipping through a People Magazine and people watching; all before I relax in my window seat. Yes, I love snuggling up to the window, plugging in my headphones and spending some intentional time with God while enjoying the serenity of “ME” time!
Today as I am finally feeling refreshed and excited to focus on what is ahead, I encourage you to plan some much needed “YOU” time. Break away from mundane life and focus in on the Lord through quiet time. Plan a pedicure break to pamper your tired and overworked feet. A girl’s night out with other mommy friends that are also craving some adult time, always inspires me. Whatever it is you need to do, just do it! I promise you, you will love the break, and your kids will probably have more fun being loved on by someone other than you.
Psalm 62:5 Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him.
Blessings to you hard working Mommy’s.
