I don’t know about you, but the month of December and January are extremely busy for us with all of the holiday festivities. Every year we rush to have a family photo taken and rush to design and print Christmas cards to send out to everyone we love. Why do we put this kind of pressure on ourselves, what is the rush?
I was talking with my parents after New Year’s and they were disappointed that they didn’t hit the so-called “Christmas/New Year’s card send-out deadline” and that they still wished they could send out a family card. That’s when I realized, why are we trying to stay up with the status quo? If we want to send out a family card, SEND IT! Who says it has to be around Christmas or New Year’s? I decided to do some research and found that card companies also make wonderful love-themed card options. (As Gru from Despicable Me would say… in his fabulous accent – Lightbulb!) What a great idea!
I helped my parents design and write a card that they could send out in early February to spread LOVE this year, instead of holiday cheer! Think about it, everyone talks about how sad they are after the holidays because cards are no longer showing up in their mailboxes. This is a great opportunity for us to surprise the ones we love, by spreading cheer in a different month. It is also a great opportunity for your card to also feel the love from the one receiving it. There is no competition… your card WILL be their favorite!
If you feel like you missed the boat on sending out a family card this year, you didn’t. Send out a love-filled card this year in February, and make someone feel special!
