If you haven’t visited Sedona, Arizona … YOU MUST! As a Phoenician (aka – born and raised Phoenix, Arizona), I love exploring my fabulous state. Hands down, Sedona is one of my favorite cities… by a long shot! As a little girl, we vacationed in Sedona every summer to beat the Phoenix heat, so I have countless memories and happy moments forever engrained in my mind. Sedona was also the city in which my husband proposed to me, along the majestic Oak Creek to be exact. And now it is one of our favorite places to take our girls for a weekend getaway. Sedona is only about a 2 hour drive from our city life in Phoenix, so it makes for the perfect getaway location. The weather, the stunning beauty (famous for the red rocks) and the “small town” feel are just too fabulous not to visit.
On our last holiday weekend adventure, my husband and I decided it was time to take our 4 year old and 1 year old daughters on their first hike in the red rocks. We loaded up the girls in our fabulous backpack carriers, and off we went!
HELLO ☀️ SUNSHINE… This tote bag is PERFECTION!
Adornlee has done it again… this is the best bag for a pool/beach day!!! I have taken it on two resort staycations now and I am officially obsessed with it! I have received so many comments and messages for details on it, so I wanted to take a minute and share with you all of the specifics, because honestly… It is Ahh-mazing!
We wanted to show our girls the simple life on our first family vacation together as a family of four. We decided to take the girls out of the city and submerge them into the beautiful wilderness of Idaho. Our day-to-day life is filled with activities, places to go and people to see, so we really made it a point to relax, kickback and just have fun together. Our good friends invited us to come out and visit their home in Idaho Falls and it was the perfect opportunity to explore Idaho and show our little ladies a good time.
This vacation was filled with many firsts for us, not only was it our first real family vacation, but it was also our first family flight together. Flying with kids was definitely a new adventure for my husband… but thankfully all went great and so began our exciting adventure!
Packing Up & Heading Out | Traveling with Kids
Packing for a vacation with 2 little ones can be a N-I-G-H-T-M-A-R-E. Until you’ve done it, it’s easy to underestimate the time required and logistical management necessary to do it WELL. Although my husband would disagree, I wouldn’t say that I am an overpacker, BUT… I definitely don’t want to be missing something on a trip! For this reason, I take the time to plan ahead and have found a few ways to make this daunting task a little more do-able and a little less miserable.
Since vacation season is in fullswing, I thought I would share with you some of my most helpful packing tips & tricks!
There is nothing better than spending a long holiday weekend with family, in a beautiful beach town. We are so blessed to have family in California that invite us out every year. We love you guys! No matter the distance or time in-between visits, it is so easy to pick up right where we left off. That is the beauty of family.
This trip was also special for my immediate family of 4, because it was our first official family vacation with the four of us together. With Payton being a toddling one year old now, and Paisley almost a 4 year old inquisitive little girl, it made for an amazing time. It was so much fun spending every day on the beach and letting both girls experience the excitement and beauty of the ocean. It is one of my favorite places in the world and I hope my girls create a special love for it as well. The weather was amazing and the girls did a great job with traveling and missing their routine/nap-times. I pushed all expectations out the window as we left AZ and the trip was relaxing, enjoyable and stress free… just as vacation should be!

9 months and 22 days… This is the time that has passed since my husband and I welcomed Payton into the world. As parents, we strive to model a life of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, faithfulness, humility, confidence, hard-work, and self control. In all of that, it is easy to be laser-focused on raising our children and lose sight of the driving force behind our children… our marriage. Although we have a great marriage, to say that “marriage is easy” would be misleading. We believe whole-heartedly that great marriages don’t happen on accident… A great marriage is never without hardwork, commitment, and a gritty determination to make it great.
