STAYcation: [vacation close to home]
My husband and I recently celebrated our nine year wedding anniversary with a STAYcation at one of our favorites! When you live in a state that offers some of the most beautiful resort options available, why leave town to have a good time!? As you already know from my previous posts, we are big fans of STAYcations and constantly promote the idea of staying nearby and enjoying all of the amenities that your city and state have to offer! We selected the JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge Resort & Spa because it holds a special place in our hearts and is filled with sweet memories over the last 9 years of our relationship. Plus, it is beyond fabulous!
The JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge Resort & Spa in Phoenix, Arizona is simply stunning! From the second you walk in, you feel like you’re at a desert oasis. The pool area is magnificent with different areas to lounge and delight in their decadent drinks and poolside food. You can also jump on a raft and float along the lazy river. With several different pools to chose from, our personal favorite is the waterfall pool because you get an awesome experience of a tranquil waterfall with a nearby DJ providing musical glory!
The JW Marriott Desert Ridge offers a fabulous grand entrance, and the rooms are so accomodating; once you arrive, there is no reason to leave. They have everything you could possibly need, want or desire on site: an incredible spa, a full service Starbucks, a large store/souvenir shop, nightly live music, top notch restaurants, kids activities, golf course and unbelievable views in every direction you look.
Don’t just take my word for it, enjoy a few photos from our amazing weekend away and trust me you, too, will want to stay here!
And just like that, the holidays are over. December was a festive month filled with wonderful Christmas adventures, and it was extra special sharing it with our sweet girls, (You know what they say, the holidays are magical when shared with little ones, and I couldn’t agree more!)
We celebrated the birth of Jesus, ate our body weight in Christmas cookies, sang our little holiday hearts out, watched every Hallmark Christmas movie possible and of course enjoyed bundling up for the cooler weather. December is my favorite month of the year, not just because of all of the fun activities the month brings, but because of the joyful spirit in the air and all of the family time and memories made each year. December you will be greatly missed.
As I pack up the Christmas decorations and close the door on December, I excitedly anticipate the new fun times ahead as we ring in a new year and welcome the adventure that will be 2017.
Thank you November for finally bringing cooler weather to Arizona! Fall has been lovely, but your chilly winter weather has really added a festive touch to the month. You were a month filled with thankfulness and gratitude and we loved sharing Thanksgiving traditions with the girls. But, with open arms and eager hearts, we welcome you December!!! Bring on all of the holly jolly Christmas spirit and let us not forget the real reason for the season ahead, the birth of Jesus!
Goodbye pumpkin spice and hello peppermint mocha. ☕️

I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers. – L.M. Montgomery
What a jam-packed month of fun firsts!!! You brought pumpkins, pumpkins and more pumpkins, my one year BLOGiversary, a family vacation and our first trip to SeaWorld, and lots of Halloween festivities.
However, one thing October forgot to bring was cooler weather, so November we are counting on you to do so!
Goodbye spooky fun, hello thankfulness!

We wanted to show our girls the simple life on our first family vacation together as a family of four. We decided to take the girls out of the city and submerge them into the beautiful wilderness of Idaho. Our day-to-day life is filled with activities, places to go and people to see, so we really made it a point to relax, kickback and just have fun together. Our good friends invited us to come out and visit their home in Idaho Falls and it was the perfect opportunity to explore Idaho and show our little ladies a good time.
This vacation was filled with many firsts for us, not only was it our first real family vacation, but it was also our first family flight together. Flying with kids was definitely a new adventure for my husband… but thankfully all went great and so began our exciting adventure!
I am much more me when I’m with you. – Datebox
For our 8th wedding anniversary, I wanted to share a special date with my husband, but I was looking for something a little outside our box. Ironically enough, a friend of mine recommended something inside a box: a Datebox.
Datebox is a subscription box company that you pre-order online and every month a unique box containing everything you need for a fun and creative date is delivered to your door step. Each month the box has a different theme and activity inside that allows you an opportunity to create a special memory.
Urban Dictionary describes it perfectly:
Mom: The woman who loves you unconditionally from birth, the one who puts her kids before herself and the one who you can always count on above everyone else. Just telling her your problems makes you feel better because moms always know how to make it all go away. Even if you fight, know that she’s just looking out for your best interests.
When I became a mom everyone warned me: “life will never be the same again.” It always reminded me of the song – “It’s the end of the world as we know it.” I heard what they were saying but I didn’t truly know what they were saying until I became a mom 1,424 days ago. And it’s true, life has not been the same. It’s been better… better than I could have ever imagined it! Being a mom is truly one of the most rewarding experiences of my life thus far!
It’s June… so that means wedding season is in full swing and wedding bells are ringing! Warning, I might be a little bias because I am a June bride… and if you don’t believe me just turn on the Hallmark channel, June is wedding movie month. 🙂
Since I just celebrated my anniversary… weddings are on my mind. So I wanted to share with all of you wedding-goers one of my favorite go-to wedding gifts. It is super simple to make and always a hit with the bride and groom.
Today marks my 8th wedding anniversary, I can’t believe I have been married for 8 years to my college sweetheart! I am so thankful for all of the fun moments and memories, as well as the hard times and difficulties. We have been through college, more college, moving to Washington, moving to Kansas, buying a home, having babies, career changes, losing loved ones… I could go on and on. The beauty of marriage is that you have a partner to do life with. Someone to lean on in hard times and someone to rejoice with in the good times. Marriage is a beautiful gift.
Since today is my 8th wedding anniversary I wanted to share… 8 little gems I have learned in my 8 years of marriage.
Disclaimer: my marriage is not perfect… far from it actually. But, we are fully committed to one another and do our best to love, serve, and respect one another on a daily basis.
