Every once in a while a small shop shines brighter than the rest, not only for their great items, but also for what they stand for. Our world can always use an extra dose of kindness and good, and for that reason, I am a huge fan of this do-good shop, Good In Store. Good In Store is owned by MJ Kocovski, a graphic designer, social media specialist, former teacher, wife and mom of 3 and an overall passionate person.
As a mom of two little ones, I have been around the block when it comes to baby gear! I remember being pregnant for the first time trying to figure out which baby items I actually needed and which ones were not essential. Baby stores these days are flooded with options on everything from pacifiers and bottles to car seats and strollers. Often times, too many options leave new moms-to-be paralyzed wondering what to purchase and what to pass on. Looking back, it would have been nice had I been given a “must have purchase guide” for new moms-to-be. Instead I was on my own and registered for random items and hoped that they would be helpful with our new baby! In hindsight, I made good decisions on many items, but failed miserably on others. Time to help out any mom-to-be’s that are in this situation… Here is the official “Baby Registry Must Have Purchase Guide” for Momma’s to be… share this up, let’s help those in need!
Do you ever want to escape reality and get lost in a good book? A book that makes you smile, makes you laugh, makes you cry and in the end makes you want to be a better version of you? Or a book that reminds you that you are special, you are doing great things and that you are making a difference? If you answered YES to all of these questions, I have the perfect book for you!
Do your kids have any odd, weird, unusual, peculiar behaviors or characteristics that make you scratch your head in frustration at times? Maybe it’s just my kids, but maybe not. My girls definitely have a few strange quirks that make them… them. I used to look at some of these little things that they do as weird or even bad, and I often wondered what I needed to do differently to break that particular behavior or habit. But… over the years and now having a second child, I accept these quirks, recognizing that they’re likely to be here for a short time only and will be a distant memory sometime too soon! As moms we have so much on our shoulders, ALL THE TIME, so I’ll share some of the weirdness that are my kids, and encourage you to worry less about yours, and to embrace their quirks as well! Let’s face it, life is too short to not love ALL of your kids’ personalities, even the strange stuff. This youngster stage is short so let’s keep having fun with them, and stop worrying and overanalyzing their every move!
Here are a few of my kids silly quirks…
If you haven’t visited Sedona, Arizona … YOU MUST! As a Phoenician (aka – born and raised Phoenix, Arizona), I love exploring my fabulous state. Hands down, Sedona is one of my favorite cities… by a long shot! As a little girl, we vacationed in Sedona every summer to beat the Phoenix heat, so I have countless memories and happy moments forever engrained in my mind. Sedona was also the city in which my husband proposed to me, along the majestic Oak Creek to be exact. And now it is one of our favorite places to take our girls for a weekend getaway. Sedona is only about a 2 hour drive from our city life in Phoenix, so it makes for the perfect getaway location. The weather, the stunning beauty (famous for the red rocks) and the “small town” feel are just too fabulous not to visit.
On our last holiday weekend adventure, my husband and I decided it was time to take our 4 year old and 1 year old daughters on their first hike in the red rocks. We loaded up the girls in our fabulous backpack carriers, and off we went!

My sweet four year old just started preschool which is such an exciting time in our home, but it also means… GERMS!!! I consider myself a prepared mama so I always have these remedies on hand and ready to go; Children’s TYLENOL® and Children’s MOTRIN® for my daughter… and of course Extra Strength TYLENOL® for me! Thanks to these go-to products, I am ready for school season ahead, which inevitably comes with some aches and pains… for both of us.
Packing Up & Heading Out | Traveling with Kids
Packing for a vacation with 2 little ones can be a N-I-G-H-T-M-A-R-E. Until you’ve done it, it’s easy to underestimate the time required and logistical management necessary to do it WELL. Although my husband would disagree, I wouldn’t say that I am an overpacker, BUT… I definitely don’t want to be missing something on a trip! For this reason, I take the time to plan ahead and have found a few ways to make this daunting task a little more do-able and a little less miserable.
Don’t get me wrong, I love a good girls night out… but even better is a girls getaway! A few days to regroup, relax, let loose and just have fun. No kid-talk, no kids, no diaper bags, no bottles and (sorry babe) no hubbies. Just a good girlfriend to make memories with and explore, explore, explore!
My best friend is quite the world traveler so when the opportunity presented itself to jump on a plane and take a 5 day trip to NYC with her, I was gone in a New York minute. We stayed in Time Square and hit just about every hot spot from The Empire State Building, Central Park, Columbus Circle, Bryant Park, Rockefeller Center and of course we ate and drank our way through every fancy restaurant and bar in the city. We averaged 10 miles of walking every day and when we needed a break we hailed a cab and enjoyed the sites from an ol’ faithful NY cabby. It truly was a best friend getaway I will never forget and I am so grateful that she knew just what this mama needed. By the way, New York at Christmas time has got to be one of the most magical times to be in NYC. The ice skating, the chilly peacoat weather, The Rockette’s show and Rockefeller center just come to life at Christmas time.
I am much more me when I’m with you. – Datebox
For our 8th wedding anniversary, I wanted to share a special date with my husband, but I was looking for something a little outside our box. Ironically enough, a friend of mine recommended something inside a box: a Datebox.
Datebox is a subscription box company that you pre-order online and every month a unique box containing everything you need for a fun and creative date is delivered to your door step. Each month the box has a different theme and activity inside that allows you an opportunity to create a special memory.
If I could have asked my younger self where I would be at age 31… I promise you I never would have imagined a mom to two beautiful girls! I always thought that I would make a great boy-mom, and truly anticipated having a home full of dirt-covered little dudes and a family room covered in sports balls and legos! BOY was I wrong! God has a great sense of humor. Instead I have a home full of princess dresses, an over-sized bright-pink Barbie Dream house, drawers of bows and headbands, and baby dolls around every corner… and the crazy part is, I wouldn’t trade it for anything!
