We took our girls out to the woods of Prescott, Arizona for their first camping weekend as a family of four. To give you a little perspective, our girls are 4.5 and 2.5 years old and this was our first time all sleeping together in one small space… without a pack n’ play! My husband was raised camping and in the outdoors so he had been dreaming of the day that our girls would be old enough to enjoy a trip like this, and this was our first attempt. To say it went well is an understatement… much to my surprise it went great! But don’t get me wrong, with any trip you come across a few hiccups here and there. But, it was so much fun to take the girls off the grid, push everyday rules to the side and just let them enjoy being kids for the trip… and I know that we made memories as a family they will not forget.
If you are like me, and questioning whether or not your family is ready for a camping trip, I say go for it! You will never know until you try. And to help you out, here are a few of my ‘camping with kids’ recommendations. I hope these ideas help make your trip extra enjoyable for all – we all want happy campers!

Now that Arizona has hit the triple digits, splash pad season is upon us. With the amount of time we spend outside and as an Arizona mama of two fair skinned girls, that means we need to take sun protection seriously. One way I do so is always being prepared, and since we are always on the go, I like to keep a splash pad essential bag in my car at all times. This keeps us ready for any adventure that comes our way! I have found that there are a few essential items to have in your bag to keep you SUN-ready, but there is one that you can’t leave home without… Blue Lizard® Australian Sunscreen Baby!
What to pack for your kiddos… Splash Pad Essentials
At this stage of life, toddler messes have become a fairly frequent visitor to our home. Day after day, week after week, I find myself constantly sweeping the floors to keep the crumbs and messes minimized in the wake of our toddlers! After considering the ridiculous amounts of time invested into sweeping, I thought I’d give one of those fancy robotic vacuums a try. I decided to go with the bObsweep PetHair, because if it can handle pet hair, it can surely handle the messes of my kids!
Now don’t get me wrong, I was a little skeptical about a robotic vacuum, but the bObsweep PetHair, AKA Bob, swept away my fears. This vacuum has become a lifesaver for me as a mom with two small kiddos at home. Every day I have it cycle through the kitchen, family room, and play room to pick up all of their crumbs and messes from the kids meals and play dough adventures. It is easy to use and oh-so helpful, I can’t believe I didn’t get one sooner!

Motherhood isn’t easy! …So why go it alone?
Finding mom friends that are in the same stage of life (i.e.. running around after littles), is the best way to get through this crazy season of life. Having mama friends that you can talk to about all of your real life day-to-day moments is not only important, but it is vital to your mama sanity! For that reason I am so thankful to have met some amazing local AZ mama bloggers to do life with.
When I look back on these last two years with Payton, the one word that comes to mind is… FUN! Two years ago today my quirky, smiley, and independent baby girl joined our family, and made me a mom for the second time, and Praise God, life has never been the same!
I didn’t know what to expect when I found out we were having our second daughter. I naively thought that she would be just like her older sister. Boy was I wrong, Payton Reese is quite literally the complete opposite of her Big Sis! God has quite a sense of humor and I’m sure He has loved watching me grow and nurture my sweet little mini-me. And mini-me she is!… Payton reminds me so much of me as a child, and sometimes that can be scary, but it has given us an extra special bond from day one!
You were a month filled with sweets, lots of love and blessed family experiences. Although it was a short month, it was jam-packed with great memories. We especially enjoyed the chilly weather and RAIN!
So long February we are ready to MARCH into the new month!
:: Our Month in 9 Squares ::
Thank you for bringing a month of change! I always look forward to creating new goals, spending time planning and dreaming about the future and wishing for what is to come with the new year. 2017 is going to be a fabulous year!
We started the month off with a couples-only snowy vacation to reconnect and kick 2017 off on the right foot, and then spent the rest of the month focusing in on our family. My hope for the month was simplicity so that is just what I did; simplified, organized, relaxed and recouped from a busy 2016.
You were a dreamy month January, but now I am ready for all the LOVE that February brings!

It is always smart to plan ahead and with this STARTplanner I am about to start 2017 off right.
I am so grateful for my 2016, it was filled with many wonderful blessings. 💜 I love that every December I get to spend quiet time looking back at my year in review and begin goal setting for the new year ahead. I am so excited for the special things coming in 2017 and I can’t wait to fill up this beautiful STARTplanner, it is going to be the perfect way to stay organized in the busy season ahead.
If you are a planner-lover like me, or just enjoy staying organized… This is the planner you need in your life! Goals are rarely achieved without proper planning, organizing and preparing yourself for success.
And just like that, the holidays are over. December was a festive month filled with wonderful Christmas adventures, and it was extra special sharing it with our sweet girls, (You know what they say, the holidays are magical when shared with little ones, and I couldn’t agree more!)
We celebrated the birth of Jesus, ate our body weight in Christmas cookies, sang our little holiday hearts out, watched every Hallmark Christmas movie possible and of course enjoyed bundling up for the cooler weather. December is my favorite month of the year, not just because of all of the fun activities the month brings, but because of the joyful spirit in the air and all of the family time and memories made each year. December you will be greatly missed.
As I pack up the Christmas decorations and close the door on December, I excitedly anticipate the new fun times ahead as we ring in a new year and welcome the adventure that will be 2017.
