Recent Reads – December 2019

I did it!…  I have officially joined the digital world of Amazon Kindle reading and I am a huge fan! Don’t get me wrong… I know there will be times that I miss actually flipping the pages and smelling the paper, but so far I am loving it. Go Team Kindle!  And ever since I bought a Kindle, I have been able to fly through Books! It goes everywhere with me and it is filled with all of my favorite titles. Thanks to the convenience of electronic reading, I have some great books to share… I enjoyed these titles and I think you will as well.

So here you go, a good round up of books that you can’t go wrong with!  In full disclosure, please know that I adore a Hallmark style love-story with a happy ending, but I am happy to say I branched out a little bit this time around. These books have some unexpected plot twists, surprise endings, in-depth storylines and historical connections… Which I found very intriguing as well.  I also read 2 great books that have a Christmas theme – just in time for the holidays!

Peachtree Bluff: 3 book series – Slightly South of Simple, The Southern Side of Paradise, The Secret To Southern Charm

Merry & Bright and The Christmas Wedding are cute and quick reads, filled with love, the importance of family and holiday spirit!  They have a Hallmark holiday movie feel and the storylines are very sweet. Grab a cozy blanket and let the joy of the season sweep you away!

The Summer Wives and The Secret Life of Violet Grant are both written by the same author, Beatriz Williams.  But I must be honest, I was taken more by The Secret Life it Violent Grant.  I didn’t know what I was getting myself into when I started this novel, but the more I read, the more I couldn’t stop! The book is two intertwined stories set 50 years apart – one in the 1960s and the other storyline in WWI. This book is not like any of the others I have read lately, it had meat to it, and I am so glad I gave it a chance! It was captivatingly written, with twists and turns I didn’t see coming.

Both of these books made me think, and had me second guessing multiple times throughout. If you like a book that takes you on a journey – these are the books for you!  The Summer Wives is also really good, and written in the same intertwining storyline format so if you like Violet Grant… give Summer Wives a read, too!

Summer Rental, The Fixer Upper, The Identicals, Surfside Sisters & Spring Fever all made me happy – You can’t go wrong! Each of these books have a touch of southern charm and revolve around dynamic women characters, of course their love interests, a good plot twist and beautiful settings.  They are easy to get lost in, but have just enough depth to keep you guessing.  Have fun jumping from one book to the other, they are all great in their own unique storyline!

The Peachtree Bluff – 3 book series were probably my favorite books from this round of Recent Reads.  These books are the epitome of beachy reads and the author, Kristy Woodson Harvey, pulls you in with warmth and whit for the whole series!  I enjoyed the characters and the realistic settings and how you can’t help but fly through the pages and long to see what the next book has in store.  All I can say is, I loved them!

Never forget to give the gift of reading!  A good book is the perfect addition to a great gift for the favorite lady in your life. I have provided Amazon links so you can skim the stories and grab them on prime! (Thank you Amazon Prime – Can I get an Amen?!!)
