Girlie number 3 is six weeks new and I am living on caffeine and snuggles! Since we are in the newborn survival stage I thought it would be fun to share a few items that have kept ‘us’ going – items that both Kensie and I love. They are mostly nursing and sleep related because let’s face it, up until now that is all newbies do in the beginning. And if you recall from my previous posts, since we didn’t know her gender prior to birth, practically every item listed below has been 2-day shipped to my home via Amazon Prime. Lifesaver!
To give you a little back story, I have really struggled with nursing all three of my girls, and to say the first few weeks of nursing has been rough would be an understatement. Between the pain, engorgement, plugged ducts/mastitis, latching and what seems to be a never ending cycle of feeds… it is and has been an exhausting journey, again! But, I am hanging in there and the nursing/feeding items below are probably why. Don’t be afraid to admit it is hard, because it is… use whatever aids you need to get through! Not all nursing journeys are easy, so do your best to not doubt your body or be too hard on yourself. And yes, I need to be better at taking my own advice. Which is why I am sharing my ‘breast friends’ below!

Nursing/Breast Feeding Favorites:
Nursing Pillow – This is key to your comfort – and like they say, if mama ain’t happy… nobody is!
Bottles – I have used this bottle with all three of my girls, and they’ve been great each time! But remember to stay flexible and be willing to try various bottles to find the one that makes your baby happy.
Breast Pump – 3rd times the charm, and I am still in love with this pump.
Breast Shields/Breast Shells/ Nipple Cream/ Nursing Pads / 3-in-1 Breast Therapy Pack / Tender Care Pads – These have been my lifesavers! When it comes to breast comfort, I have tried it ALL, and these are my favorites! Breast feeding can be a lot harder than it seems on your body. These items are amazing and I hope they help you, too! If you have any questions, feel free to ask!
Nursing Cover – I tried a new style this time around and I love that I truly feel covered in this one. I also love to use it to cover her up in her carseat!
Swaddle – My girls love to feel snuggled at night, and I have found these to be my go-to nighttime wear. Worth every penny! Double zipper so you don’t have to unzip the whole swaddle to change their diaper!
Swaddle Blankets – THE BEST blankets, back-up nursing covers and carseat covers. They are light weight, just the right size, uber soft and comfortable.
Swaddle Set – If you have a little one that likes their arms out of a swaddle, this is your winner. Light weight and easy to swaddle with arms in or out, not to mention they come in the sweetest patterns!
Baby Set – Super soft to touch with a matching headband for your new little lady. You can’t beat the price – you will love it! I used this set for newborn photos and it is always used to snuggle her up at night!
Pacifier – My girl loves having a little stuffed animal attached and I love that it assists in keeping the paci in her mouth. There are so many cute animals to choose from and they are harder to loose, due to their size. WIN-WIN!
Positioner Pillow – This brand is so great! Every mom needs a Boppy pillow. Perfect for nursing, tummy time or just a nice arm prop when you are cuddling your babe. Can’t say enough good things!
Pack ‘N Play – This pack ‘n play has gotten us through all three babies. We love the newborn napping additions and use the bassinet and changing setup in our bedroom every night. Very well thought-out product. Once you are past the newborn stage you can use it as a travel pack ‘n play bed.
Lounger – This is the perfect, on the go lounger. Kensie loves to hang out in it and I use it every morning to prop her while I get ready. Since it has a handle, it is so easy to carry around the house.
Auto Rock ‘N Play Sleeper – THE BEST! Probably one of the most important items for a newborn! It rocks the baby for you! Winning! *Wish we would have had this for all 3 babies!
Bath – Portable, light weight and easy to use in the bath tub or sink. It also folds up for easy storage or travel!
Single Stroller – This stroller is so convenient and folds up small enough to fit in most cars. They offer an adapter for your brand of carseat for the newborn stage and it rides super smooth. I love how, with my baby in my arms, I can grab the stroller one-handed and and have it set up in less than 3 seconds! Perfect mom-win product!
Carseat Hammock – This has become a game-changer product for us. Now I can place my toddler in the front of the cart and my newborn, in her carseat, in the Binxy Baby hammock above my groceries. This product allows me to do a normal grocery trip and not loose out on cart space, all while knowing my little one is safely hooked in the cart.
Milestone Stickers/Baby Books – This is the cutest mom shop and they cover your special photographic moments. Adorable and simple to fill out baby books and the cutest milestone stickers! Both items would also make a creative and personalized baby shower gift!
Baby Carrier – My favorite product for a hands-free nap-time or running errands! So convenient and comfortable for you and the baby.
As life continues to evolve I will share the next phase of must-have products with you, but in the meantime I will be over here snuggling and soaking up a little baby love.
I hope these newborn necessities and mommy-hood advice brings you comfort in your newborn journey. Feel free to reach out with any questions, we are all in this sleep-deprived-time together!
